The software can take the signed QSO records directly from the logging interface to prepare and upload them to Logbook of The World (LoTW). The remote user is not just limited to logging but has full control of the rig, digital modes and rotator control. Remote operation takes place over the internet with encrypted connections. What does the licensing model look like for HAM2000?
HAM2000 is licensed as a perpetual license rather than subscription based. That means once you buy it, you own it for life by license agreement, and you have the right to keep using that version of the software for as long as you like. A standard license includes all the minor updates ( going from v5.1 to v5.2 for example) at no additional cost. With major version upgrades ( such as v5 to v6) you will usually have a discount to help with the upgrade cost. You are allowed to install the software on 2 computers simultaneously, which is allowed as long as they are not being used at the same time with the same license. Special multi-user discounts are available for club station or educational institution licenses. You can also download a free trial license for 30 days (full restrictions during the trial).
